When implementing cellular automata (CA) into a traffic simulation, one common defect yet to be rectified is the abrupt deceleration when vehicles encounter stationary obstacles or traffic jams. To be more in line with real world vehicular movement, this paper proposes a piecewise-linear movement to replace the conventional particle-hopping movement adopted in most previous CA models. Upon this adjustment and coupled with refined cell system, a new CA model is developed using the rationale of Forbes’ et al. car-following concept. The proposed CA model is validated on a two-lane freeway mainline context. It shows that this model can fix the unrealistic deceleration behaviors, and thus can reflect genuine driver behavior in the real world. The model is also capable of revealing Kerner’s three-phase traffic patterns and phase transitions among them. Furthermore, the proposed CA model is applied to simulate a highway work zone wherein traffic efficiency (maximum flow rates) and safety (speed deviations) impacted by various control schemes are tested. 相似文献

Summary: In this study, a method for producing super‐amphiphobic surfaces through plasma modification of benzoxazine films is presented. Microroughening and fluorination of the benzoxazine films occurs during the plasma treatment process and a rugged surface with a micro/nano binary structure is formed. The combined effect of low surface energy and substrate roughness results in high advancing contact angles (157° for water, 152° for diiodomethane) and low contact angle hysteresis.

We investigate the spin dynamics in the two-dimensional spin-orbit coupled system subject to an in-plane (x-y plane) constant electric field, which is assumed to be turned on at the moment . The equation of spin precession in linear response to the switch-on of the electric field is derived in terms of Heisenberg's equation by the perturbation method up to the first order of the electric field. The dissipative effect, which is responsible for bringing the dynamical response to an asymptotic result, is phenomenologically implemented à la the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation by introducing damping terms upon the equation of spin dynamics. Mediated by the dissipative effect, the resulting spin dynamics asymptotes to a stationary state, where the spin and the momentum-dependent effective magnetic field are aligned again and have nonzero components in the out-of-plane (z) direction. In the linear response regime, the asymptotic response obtained by the dynamical treatment is in full agreement with the stationary response as calculated in the Kubo formula, which is a time-independent approach treating the applied electric field as completely time-independent. An unsteady state transfer of immersed particles within the interval between the arrival of eddies is solved by use of the Laplace transform schemes. The mean particle flux and the mean particle transport mechanisms are automatically considered on the average sublayer growth period by formulating the mean distributions as a stochastic process with the aid of exponentially distributed density function. The proposed relationship for the particle deposition velocity of average time domain obtained by this analysis is expressed as the form of analytical equation, with the inclusion of the effects of Brownian diffusion, turbulent eddy diffusivity, turbophoresis, and thermophoresis. The solution of this equation is in reasonable agreement with the measured deposition velocities for three distinct categories. This mathematical framework offers a simple computation tool of practical use to aerosol engineers and can further extend by including appropriate forces in the analytical formulation through the equilibrium among acceleration terms. 相似文献

The problem of determining link tolls to reduce traffic congestion is often referred as a toll design problem. In this paper, optimal tolls are determined for signal-controlled junctions in urban traffic road networks where the rerouting traffic is properly taken into account. This problem can be formulated as a mathematical program with equilibrium constraints (MPEC) where the user equilibrium is expressed as a variational inequality problem. Due to the non-differentiability of the equilibrium problem, an efficient convergent solution scheme is established. Immiscible blends of cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) and isotactic polypropylenes (iPPs) with different melting index were extruded through a two‐strand rod die. The extrudates were hot‐drawn at the die exit at different draw ratios by controlling the drawing speed. The morphologies of iPP fibers extracted from the as‐obtained extrudates after removal of CAB by acetone were investigated by scanning electron microscopy. The influences of draw ratio, viscosity ratio, and composition ratio of CAB/iPP on the morphology evolution of iPP phase into nanofibers in the immiscible blends were studied. It was found that the thermoplastic iPP nanofibers were formed from the elongation of iPP ellipsoids, end‐to‐end merging of elongated iPP microfibers, and the size decrease of iPP microfibers in the processes of extrusion and drawing. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. X(2)(-)(H(2)O) [X = O, F] is utilized to explore water binding motifs to an excess electron via ab initio calculations at the MP4(SDQ)/aug-cc-pVDZ + diffs(2s2p,2s2p) level of theory. X(2)(-)(H(2)O) can be regarded as a water molecule that binds to an excess electron, the distribution of which is gauged by X(2). By varying the interatomic distance of X(2), r(X1-X2), the distribution of the excess electron is altered, and the water binding motifs to the excess electron is then examined. Depending on r(X1-X2), both binding motifs of C(s) and C(2v) forms are found with a critical distance of ~1.37 ? and ~1.71 ? for O(2)(-)(H(2)O) and F(2)(-)(H(2)O), respectively. The energetic and geometrical features of O(2)(-)(H(2)O) and F(2)(-)(H(2)O) are compared. In addition, various electronic properties of X(2)(-)(H(2)O) are examined. For both O(2)(-)(H(2)O) and F(2)(-)(H(2)O), the C(s) binding motif appears to prevail at a compact distribution of the excess electron. However, when the electron is diffuse, characterized by the radius of gyration in the direction of the X(2) bond axis with a threshold of ~0.84 ?, the C(2v) binding motif is formed. 相似文献
